Thanksgiving Day in Galena, Kansas does not need to be a day filled with hunger or loneliness. The Galena United Methodist Church welcomes all to attend a free community Thanksgiving dinner. Church members and volunteers will be serving turkey with dressing and ham with all the trimmings on November 22nd at the Galena Community room from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM.
Pastor Stacy Ellsworth stated that: "It is important for the people in our community who might be alone or unable to prepare a meal to know there is a place for them to go and to celebrate this holiday with others. There will be lots of good fellowship, in what we hope will be a casual and festive atmosphere."
The church is currently hoping to be able to serve up to 300 free meals on Thanksgiving Day. Plans are still being finalized but if you would like to help, updates and specific information will be posted on the church's website (umcgalena.org) and Facebook page. Financial donations are encouraged in lieu of in-kind donations when possible. Donations may be sent to the Galena United Methodist Church, 520 Joplin Street, Galena, KS 66739.
